Kork - from the ABM Capt - Air Battle Management has nothing in common with Airfield Operations so ABM might need its own separate site. ABM is the 13B career field. They are rated like pilots and navigators so they also follow under the gate month rules.

The official description reads: Airfield Operations (13MX) functions encompassing policy planning, program formulation, direction, control evaluation, and coordination of airfield operations, including air traffic control, command, operation, administration, and inspection of these activities.
From Airfield Ops at Hickam.... Airfield Operations Officers oversee the day to day management of all Air Traffic Control and Airfield Management activities at the wing level. This includes operating Base Operations (aka Airfield Management Operations; equivilant to what an FAA Flight Service Station does), the Control Tower and any terminal radar facilities. In addition, we broaden into civilian and military airspace management and terminal instrument procedure management. We interface with the FAA, host-nation ATC and local airport/airfield management for the AF.
Day-to-day work varies by location and priorities of the Operations Support Squadron Commander/Operations Group Commander. In a perfect world, you would be managing your facilities in support of the base flying mission continously maintaining your equipment and ensuring your airmen kept on top of their proficiency and training. Preparing for deployment is always foremost since we are now continuously deployed like everyone else.

Simple quick question, does 13M go to Air Traffic Control School? Is it the same one that STOs and Combat Controllers go to?
