The good and the bad about Air Battle Management. Good: You are rated, fly on JSTARS and AWACS which are stationed in Germany, Japan, Alaska, Oklahoma, and Georgia. You gain a great deal of operational Air Force experience working directly with fighter aircraft. Bad: You receive a 6 year commitment after 8 months of training in Panama City, Florida. You must also fly 8 of your first 12 years so it will be hard if you want a ground assignment. If you do not enjoy flying, this is not the profession for you.

Good: You are a trained air traffic controller that understands how the National Airspace System works. You have cross-functional visibility on the inner workings of your wing so you pretty much have to know what everyone does and how that affects your ability to support the flying mission. You learn how to manage people from the start and are required to lead by example. Opportunity to do host-nation liaison work is interesting.
Bad: Your first several assignments will be limited and continue to be limited to flight commander positions until you pin on Major. Then it's all staff assignments from there. You're locked into the careerfield unless you cross-train into pilot/nav/ABM/combat rescue/controller careerfields.
